Perth

29 oktober 2017 - Perth, Australië

I Ioke up just before my alarm went off and decided to get up. It was half past 8 and Joe and Christine were already been awake.

Time for breakfast, good old toast with jam or peanutbutter. One of their kids brouth one grandson over and now I was able to meet him. The last time that I was here two of their kids were pregnant. His name is Jackson and he is already a big boy now! The other one is Leon and I would see him in the evening.
We went to a waterfall and we had a little walk to The Darling point. That point is pretty special because that point is the spot where it was connected with India a long time ago. They found the same layers of rocks and sand as in India. They have drawn it out but you can not see that so good anymore. The edge is now grown full with plants and it is not steep but it's going down hill with on the foot of the mountain a city called Perth. Its quite interesting to think that a really long time ago there was no town called Perth and that where I was standing was India. When those two got split there was only the edge and then the ocean. But now it's going downwards like a hill and there is so much more land that has got "out of the water"  that you can not even see the ocean anymore from here.
When you wanna know more about that just have a look at one of my pictures or try google.

After lunch we went to a historical museam in Kalamanda and its funny how the air and smell is so different then in Holland or Schwitserland. In my mind its a typica Australia smell because it reminds me off my time here. The air is pretty dry and offcourse they have other plants and trees up here because of that as well. Specially the smell of the gumtree leaves is around, it smells like eucalyptus. And that familiar smell took me back in time for a little bit  and brought a smile on my face, I've missed it.

After that we drove to a dam and Jackson was sleeping in the car while we were driving, it was quite a drive, and I was fighting against following his example. Don't let the jetlag take over! I was pretty exciting what was coming. A real Aussie barbie (bbq) with the family *read: a lot of meat, a beer with a stubbieholder, the sun and friends/familie.

When you don't know what a stubbieholder is then I can explain it in just one word: AWESOME! And in a few more words, its a holder made of foam where you can put your cold bottle of beer in to keep it cold. I can hear a few people thinking, "you should just drink faster so you don't need them", but Im not gonna write names down. I just love them so that my hands are not getting cold with the 25° over here.

So time to see (almost) the whole family again. Im so terrible in names so I have been practising a little bit. I was so surprised that Jackson already knew my name before I said hi to him the day before but offcourse the story was already getting around the last few months that I was coming over but still. When a three year old can tell you your name I should be able to do the same thing with the rest of the familie don't you think?
On of them got me a beer + stubbieholder (YEAH!), Joe was setting up the barbie and let the catching up begin. It was a really nice evening and when I asked if I could get someone another drink the answer was no, they had to drive or had to get up in the morning. Fair enough and I put my stubbieholder away.

Talking about timing, when I stood up the next day one of their sons was picking Jackson up and I said hi because I thought that I had seen him the other day. Christine said that he became a dad again last night so I couldn't have seen him yesterday. . oops. . that offcourse was his twinbrother. . So I wanted to gradulate him but I started to speak German. .I tried to appologize and explaining why I just talked in German but I said that in German aswell. .aaaahhh, an English word came out, then a Dutch one and then a German one again. . Those 20seconds were pretty akward. . I just got out of bed, and before I went to sleep I had skyped with my boyfriend in German offcourse. And because I was already feeling stupid that I thought I had seen him the day before the English blocked me even more. But after 20 seconds the: gradulations and how is Beth (yeah I knew her name!) doing I feld much better.

That day another grandson came over, Leon he has the same age as Jackson, and we went over to see the baby, Theodore. We had lunch, a drive to a river and did a little walk again. We brought Leon back but we would see him in the evening again because we were going to do some Trick or Treat because hat day it was Halloween!

Offcourse I wanted to walk with the kids aswell, I like Halloween. I had as much fun, or perhaps even more, as the kids. I started "normal" but ended with bathwings, a witchring, a spiderring, a scary mask, a rat hanging on my earring and I even got myself some candy! I stole. .euhm I mean I got those stuff from the kids between theTrick or Treating. I even had a broom for a second and they lost me for a couple of minutes but. .I had a blast!

Time to go home. The next day I would go to Kellerberrin, the town where I used to work, to see a few old friends. Im looking foward to that.
