Last stop: Auckland!

5 december 2017 - Auckland, Nieuw-Zeeland

I picked up some hitchhikers on the way to Auckland and showed them the pub with all the stuff on the wall. They had booked a night in the same hostel as that I wanted to stay. . what an coincidence! So they could show me where to go in the city, I still didn’t had proper navigation.

In the evening I went to the pool competition bar and saw there a few people who were there a few weeks ago as well. One of them asked me what I was doing the next day, he didn’t had to work so he could show me around. That was a good idea!

The next day we met and we had a walk through town and then up a “hill”. That was the first day that I was hanging out with someone since Simone had left me and I have to say, that was really nice! We got a few beers and were heading towards the bar. It was beer pong night. I saw the list with the teams on it and the name LIANNE was on it. Funny, someone here has the same name, I thought. I got a pen and drawn an arrow and wrote “it’s not me” down. Then the game started. So Lianne. . you’re up. . euhm. . I didn’t sign in! Well the guy who was showing me the town did. .

We weren’t not that bad and ended third! It was a really good night.

The next day I had to get up early because I wanted to get the ferry at 9:00 am to go to the Waiheke Island to do some winetasting! I just missed the boat. . (read: 10secunds to late) so I had to wait half an hour.

This time I booked an hop on hop off bus and not a tour because I wanted to visit more than three wine yards. The island was so beautiful.. it looked like a resort! In combination with wine and good food (like salmon) it was an relaxed day. After a few hours I met some people and they asked me to join them! Nice! After a while I figured out that they had to leave the next day. . like me. And they also had to fly at 3:00pm. Awesome! They were here for business. And they all worked together. They apparently were a flight crew. But I didn’t had the flight that they were working on. Too bad. . would have been really nice when I could tell. . you know. . I know the pilot.

Back in Auckland they asked me if I wanted to join for another beer. . offcourse I would! After that I went to the bar for some life music. The guy I met a few days ago had to plan. It wasn’t that good as I expected but well it was not to bad either. Everyone had fun.

Time to pack my stuff and go to bed. . my holiday was almost over.

So… my last day .. I just walked through town and met with the guy from the pool competition again before I had to catch the bus. I checked earlier from where the bus was going. Didn’t want to stress so I asked a girl (who looked like a backpacker) if the bus who goes to the airport stopped there. Yeah, every ten minutes. . good to know!

Time to get my backpack and head for the bus stop. I was waiting for a few minutes before I saw the bus who was going to the airport. He didn’t stop and drove past. . hmm that was not a good sign. I was looking where he was going and he stopped a few hundred meters further. Time to get my backpack on my back and walk that way then. He was still there when I got there. I wanted to get a ticket by the bus driver but I had to get a ticket from the shop (just next to the bus stop). Oohw. . but he said, get in I will get it for you. That was nice of him.

Time for me to go home!
