Hmm I don't wanna lose my driver license!

29 november 2017 - Raglan, Nieuw-Zeeland

I was driving a bit too fast because I didn't wanna be to late for my surfing lesson. When google maps says that it will take three hours it could be four too. A police car passed me and I saw him turning on his light and turn around. . I was driving 150... and was allowed 100. Hmm that could cost me my driver license. So I drove faster, got to the first exit and turned left a few times, got the car in someones drive way, lost the cop, got out of my car and had a walk for 20minutes. . No cops! Got into my car again and thought. . that was close!! I really couldn't afford to lose my license!

Just kidding. . I would never do that! I was just driving 114 (that doesn't sound so bad now does it?). I saw the police car with his light on in the mirror but I didn't knew actually what to do. I couldn't just drive into the grass so I kept on driving 100. . Then he turned on his siren and then I had a spot to stop. It took him a while to get out of his car and walk towards me. . Then he got to my car and asked me why I was speeding. . well. . trying to get on time for my surfing lesson actually.

After that I had to get out of the car to get my license out of my bag and he asked how my travelling was going. Nice guy. Then the boring part came he said and he had to fill in some forms and that could cost a few minutes. . I just said.  . You don't have to do it. . then he laughs and said, that's true. . just get into your car and have a nice day.

Also that part wasn't true. . I wish! But at least it was nice wetter and we were not standing in the rain. When it would have rained he wouldn't have gave me a ticket. . unlucky me then. . I asked him if I could take a picture and put it on my blog. . yes I was asking for permission. . But he didn't want his face in front of it. . so no selfie. . Check! I turned on my music while I was waiting and before I left he told me to keep an eye on my speed and I answered: well now I have to drive 120 to get on time.  . Lucky he had humor.

I still got on time for my surfing lesson. I had a few in Australia a couple of years ago and I know I had trouble to stand up in one movement. Perhaps now it would go a bit better.

It was not going to bad. I could stand up pretty quick and stay on my board. Catching a few waves! Really nice feeling that was. In the hostel I sat down by people who were (of course) working there. They asked me to join them to the beach. Nice! Really relaxed people they were. . Happy surfers. . A beach. . a nice sunset. . a fire. . music. . Wilson. . I only skipped the green stuff.

Good first day! Will see how the next day will go!
