Personal space?! Forget it.

17 november 2017 - Milford Sound, Nieuw-Zeeland

It was one and a half hour drive from our camping spot. But I wanted to be there early so count 2 hours. We got there an hour to early. Better to early then to late. Getting a parking spot, kaffee, toilet and do our travel diary. We walked over there at 10:20am a 10 minute walk and we had the boat at 10:30am. We heard a honking sound and I was like.. oohw well that's our boat. We got at the reception at 10:30 and she relaxed said, you guys missed your boat but we have a spot at 11:15am left. You say what? We were that early and now we just missed it. . Unbelievable. . I'm pretty good in those things. . to bad but we JUST have to wait another 45 minutes. . and not a few hours! Optimistic! More people should think like that.

Simone was getting in the line to get on the ship. I wanted to take a few more pictures. When I got back into the line Simone was a bit irritated. . people already bumped into her a few times and pushing. So she refused to move another step. It's not that she could have taken a step closer to the boat. Other people were standing their and she just had a bit space between her and the person in front of her. Normal you should think. But some cultures just haven't heard of personal space. I stood next to her and someone just stepped on my foot, didn't move it for a few seconds and then just had her foot against mine. Still trying to get closer. Now I had to laugh because Simone was hanging against a fence and the person next to her was just leaning against her. And its still not if their isn't enough space. . the people just want to stay so close as possible. But seeing Simone standing their and reading her face. . So funny.

We got into the boat and they had a buffet. Well we didn't and went to the upper deck. So quiet. . We almost had it to ourselves and that while where we came in it was so full of people. . lining up getting the food in them as soon as possible. . So strange to see that. We didn't see all those people till one certain part of the trip. Then they ALL came on the top deck as well. Laughing really loud and took pictures of everything and with the more people on it that's the better. You couldn't even hear the captain speak anymore. That went on for about 10 minutes and then as suddenly as they came.. they disappeared and it was quiet again. Unbelievable, I had to laugh about that. With all those selfie sticks, that's so effusive! But well.

The trip itself was so beautiful. One of my favorites I think (with Abel Tasman). Amazing how high the mountains are, how blue the water and how big the waterfalls are. Incredible. Definitely the first minutes when everything is new. I just didn't know where to look. Feeling the wind blowing in your hair, so peaceful. I loved it!

We saw one big steep mountain and we were guessing how high it was. Perhaps 500 meters? When we were back in the harbour Simone went out quick to take some pictures of me standing on the deck. So I got out last. But before I just hopped into the captain and had a little talk. I asked him how high the mountain was and he said 1600m. . Hmmm oke. . that's high.

On our drive to the next town we stopped a few times to do some walking, one was at Mirrow Lake. . I didn't see the mirrow but oke. . We had to stop for a tunnel and our car had a strange smell. I got out and had a look under the car. . something was dripping. . That not good!
